Other than the Walmart and the closed anchor attached to the back, the mall looks identical to NKM. Literally the same exterior, interior hallways, and same exact anchor building on the left of the mall which is a Jcpenny (north kents was Kmart). Looks like they blew out the back wall of the mall and built a third anchor that NKM never got and the montgomery ward was torn down for walmart. other than that, these malls are near twins. I too had many great times here as a child, right up until the closing. I think I was in the 5th grade (1977?) The first time I visited there. Besides all the trips there after, I too watched many movies at the said theatre. After graduating, and in my dating years, this was a regular and favorite weekend hangout of mine and my first wife. <br />Still find myself reminiscing about the long gone North Kent Mall, and the people who made the place so great! I purchased "Love Will Keep Us Together" and "Rhinestone Cowboy". She would always take me to Orange Julius and sometimes Hot Sam. Waldenbooks was another favorite of mine. Plainfield Dept Store was for clothing. I remember my neighbor across the street telling me that Levi's were the only acceptable brand and that bell bottoms were "out". Alladin's Castle was a favorite of my brother's (and yes, it WAS Alladin's Castle; I am old, I know 100% for sure). Happy, happy memories with my grandma :Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
